Plans to build five town houses with roof ‘viewing zones’ off a busy main road in Harold Wood have been submitted for approval.
The development would make use of a green field site between A12 Colchester Road and Maylands Golf Club.
Planning documents submitted to Havering Council on April 20 suggest that each town house would be four storeys high.
In each home, the garage, main toilet, kitchen, dining room and living room would be located on the ground floor.
All four bedrooms would then be spread out over the first and second floors, and the main bedroom would have an en-suite and balcony.
A ‘viewing zone’ on the top floor roof deck is expected to allow homeowners “to enjoy the surrounding view of the area” around the homes.
Documents claim that “a delicate cantilevered roof deck” will reflect the roof structure of Esso petrol station that is next to the proposed development.
The developer says that its preferred access to the site would be through the road which currently links the A12 and Maylands golf course.
Comments about the application P0333.23 can be made on Havering Council’s planning portal and a decision is expected by June 22.
